Development and Production
Ford New Holland produced the Ford 6610 between 1981 and 1993 at their Basildon plant in England. Part of the 'Series 10' range, it replaced the Ford 6600. The model underwent three distinct iterations throughout its production life: Force 1 (1981–1985), Force II (1985–1988), and Force III (1988–1993).
The 6610 sits in the middle of the Series 10 lineup, designed for general-purpose utility work and medium-scale arable operations. It was available in both two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations, utilizing a front-axle system sourced from Carraro.

The Ford 6610 features the Ford 4.4L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel engine.
* **Engine Displacement:** 268 cubic inches (4.4 liters)
* **Bore/Stroke:** 112 x 112 mm
* **Power Output:** 82 hp (61.1 kW) at 2100 RPM
* **PTO Horsepower:** 72 hp

* **Hydraulic Flow:** 9.7 gpm (36.7 lpm)
* **Rear Lift Capacity:** 1,770 kg to 2,030 kg depending on external assist rams
Early Force 1 models featured the flat-deck AP cab. The 1985 introduction of Force II brought the Super Q cab as a standard feature, which integrated heating, ventilation, and a more ergonomic control layout. Force III updates included a slightly revised hydraulic system and a higher-capacity battery.
Engineering Innovation and Legacy
The Ford 6610 introduced the Synchroshift transmission, replacing the earlier sliding-gear designs. This allowed for smoother gear synchronization. The optional Dual Power system provided a planetary gear set controlled by a foot switch, enabling a 22% reduction in speed and a corresponding increase in torque without using the clutch.
In 1989, Ford introduced the 'Generation III' or Force III variation. These tractors are identified by a revised decal package and an improved electronic instrument panel. The 6610 remains a focal point for collectors of Ford's 10-series due to its balance of power-to-weight ratio and mechanical simplicity.
